“It is an Order composed of Catholics and instituted for the welfare of Catholic families….Not only in sickness, but when death takes the support of the family away, the Knights of Columbus comes to the relief of the widow and the orphan in a very substantial manner.”
Venerable Rev. Michael J. McGivney, Founder

COMMUNITY: Living His Communion Together

Knights of Columbus

In an economic environment that often promotes individualism and competition, the Knights of Columbus offers practicing Catholic men over 18 a counter-cultural experience: a fraternal brotherhood that is foundational for a secure life.

St. Bartholomew is blessed to have the Knight’s of Columbus Council #2797 nearby at 5417 West Cedar Lane, Bethesda. Knights and their families are welcome collaborators in many local works of the parish, Archdiocese, and surrounding community. Council #2797 meets two nights a month.  Members can participate and volunteer in many different ways, including coordinating Christmas cards, volunteering to assist at parties, helping with community events, organizing events for children and youth, helping with a Marian hour of prayer, joining the Right to Life March in January, attending the annual (in March) Maryland Right to Life March, lining up a speaker for a meeting, and many other opportunities.

Interested in becoming a Knight? Contact John Vivian at 301-461-3597 or jvivian@vicorinc.com

Or visit the council website.

Prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe

God of power and mercy, you blessed the Americas at Tepeyac with the presence of the Virgin Mary of Guadalupe. May her prayers help all men and women to accept each other as brothers and sisters. Through your justice present in our hearts may your peace reign in the world. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.
